Preparation

  • Cut the top off the onion and peel it. Slice the onion into sections without cutting all the way through the bottom, creating a 'bloom.'
  • In a bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
  • Dip the onion in the egg mixture, then coat it with the flour mixture, ensuring all the petals are covered.

Cooking

  • Spray the onion with cooking spray and place it in the air fryer basket.
  • Air fry at 350°F for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
  • Serve with your choice of dipping sauce.

Notes

Tips: For a vegan option, swap the eggs for an alternative and use plant-based milk. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge, but they won’t be as crisp after reheating.
