  • 3 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows You can use regular marshmallows if needed.
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter Butter should be browned for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup dulce de leche Can be substituted with caramel sauce if unavailable.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

  • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown.
  • Add the mini marshmallows and salt to the browned butter, stirring until melted and smooth.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the dulce de leche and vanilla extract.
  • In a large bowl, combine the Rice Krispies with the melted mixture, mixing until evenly coated.
  • Press the mixture into a greased 9x9-inch baking pan.
  • Allow to cool and set before cutting into squares.

Notes

These treats can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container. Keep in mind they firm up a bit; microwave briefly to soften if needed. Adjust the amount of marshmallows to achieve desired consistency.
