Ingredients
  

Cookie Base

  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened Use full-fat for better flavor and texture.
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened Room temperature.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour Measure accurately.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Regular or mini.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, beat together cream cheese and butter until smooth.
  • Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
  • Beat in the egg until well incorporated.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Drop tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden.
  • Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Chill the dough if you like neater cookies. Golden edges with a tender center are ideal. You can substitute half the chocolate chips with chunks for variety.
