Crab Dip

Ingredients
  

For the dip

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Ensure it's softened for easier mixing.
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise Regular or low-fat option can be used.
  • 1/2 cup sour cream For a creamier texture.
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese Gooey cheddar is key to flavor.
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper Adjust to your spice preference.
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 lb lump crabmeat, drained and picked over for shells Higher quality crabmeat recommended.
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley Optional, for garnish.

Preparation and Baking

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, beat together cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream until smooth.
  • Stir in cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt until well combined.
  • Gently fold in the crabmeat, being careful not to break up the lumps.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until bubbly and lightly golden on top.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve warm with crackers, bread, or vegetables.

Notes

This dip can be a little pricey if you're splurging on crab, but it's worth it for special occasions. You can also prepare it a day ahead and bake before serving.
