Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 5 large day-old croissants, cut into 1-inch pieces Day-old croissants work better for absorption.
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Feel free to substitute with other types of chocolate.
  • 2 cups whole milk Can use dairy alternatives but avoid dark roast espresso.
  • 4 large eggs
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Layer the croissant pieces evenly in the baking dish and sprinkle chocolate chips over them.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  • Pour the custard mixture over the croissants and gently press them down to soak.
  • Let it sit for 10-15 minutes to absorb flavors.

Baking

  • Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes until golden brown. Cover with foil if browning too quickly.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving with powdered sugar and fresh berries.

Notes

If the custard looks thin, that’s okay. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top for drama. This can be assembled the night before; refrigerate and allow it to come to room temperature before baking.
