  • 1 cup rice Rinse the rice to prevent it from becoming gluey.
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric powder Adjust amount for flavor preference.
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 lemon, juiced Add more for additional flavor.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish Adds a fresh touch when serving.

Cooking Steps

  • In a large pot, heat a little oil over medium heat.
  • Add the onion and garlic, sauté until fragrant.
  • Add the chicken and cook until browned.
  • Stir in ginger, turmeric, rice, and chicken broth.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and let simmer for about 20 minutes or until the rice and chicken are cooked through.
  • Stir in lemon juice, and season with salt and pepper.
  • Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

For a green addition, consider adding frozen peas at the end of the cooking process.
