Ingredients
  

Meat and Seasoning

  • 1 lb Ground beef Use a lean mix for less grease.
  • 1 small Onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 packet Taco seasoning (or homemade mix) Customize seasoning to taste.
  • cup Tomato sauce or salsa

Taco Shells and Toppings

  • 8 pieces Hard taco shells Arrange shells upright for baking.
  • 2 cups Shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Mexican blend)
  • 1 cup Shredded lettuce For freshness.
  • ½ cup Diced tomatoes
  • ¼ cup Diced red onion
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped cilantro (optional) Adds freshness.
  • 1 Sour cream (optional)
  • 1 Guacamole (optional)
  • 1 Jalapeño slices (optional) For heat.
  • 1 Hot sauce (optional) Add to taste.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Arrange taco shells upright in a baking dish.

Cook Beef Mixture

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add minced garlic and taco seasoning; stir for 1 minute.
  • Pour in the tomato sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.

Assemble Tacos

  • Spoon the seasoned beef evenly into taco shells.
  • Sprinkle each taco generously with shredded cheese.

Bake

  • Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 10–15 minutes until the cheese is melted and the shells are crisp and golden.

Add Fresh Toppings

  • Remove from the oven and top with lettuce, diced tomatoes, red onion, and cilantro.
  • Serve warm with sour cream and guacamole as desired.

Notes

Don't be too precise with the oven timer; watch for golden edges. Feel free to adapt the recipe by using turkey or plant-based crumbles.
