Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 3-4 pounds beef brisket
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce Store-bought is acceptable.
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar Adjust based on preference.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • optional Fresh herbs for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your slow cooker.
  • Season the beef brisket with salt and pepper on both sides.
  • In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Brown the brisket on all sides, then transfer it to the slow cooker.
  • In the same skillet, sauté the onions and garlic until soft, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the beef broth, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet, stirring to combine.
  • Pour the mixture over the brisket in the slow cooker.

Cooking

  • Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the brisket is tender.
  • Once done, slice the brisket and serve it with the cooking juices. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

Brown the meat for flavor and deglaze the skillet to capture the stuck bits. You can pop the brisket under the broiler for 3 minutes for a crust, but be patient as the sauce reduces on the plate.
